Pierre-Michel Bernier
Full Professor and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies
Pierre-Michel Bernier is a full professor in the Department of Kinanthropology at the Faculty of Physical Activity Sciences (FASAP) at the Université de Sherbrooke. He obtained his Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia in 2005, followed by a Ph.D. in Human Movement Sciences from Aix-Marseille University in 2009, before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Brain Imaging Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2009–2011).
Lab members

Zivar Beyraghi
PhD
Zivar earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Therapy from Iran and Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Her research explores how exercise influences sensorimotor adaptation and memory consolidation by examining changes in cortical excitability with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). With her background as a physiotherapist, she is passionate about translating fundamental research into patient-centered approaches that improve rehabilitation strategies for individuals with motor impairments.

Eva Brison
Master's
Eva previously completed a Master’s degree in Human Movement Sciences at Université de Montpellier. In collaboration with the Association de la Sclérose en plaques de l’Estrie, her research focuses on neuroplastic capacities in people with multiple sclerosis. She investigates sensorimotor adaptation through a visuomotor task that combines EEG recordings with Kinarm robotic measurements. The aim of her work is to deepen our understanding of the disease and support the development of more effective therapeutic approaches.

Dominique Delisle-Godin
PhD
Dominique completed her BSc in Kinesiology in 2022 and began a MSc in Physical Activity Science before fast-tracking into the PhD program in September 2024. Her research investigates movement preparation, focusing on neuromarkers of motor planning and their modulation by task constraints. She uses EEG and EMG to address these questions and aims to apply her findings to non-invasive brain–computer interface development.

Hélène Grosset-Magagne
Master's
Hélène completed a BSc in Kinesiology in 2025, following a Health Sciences degree at Institut catholique d’études supérieures's University in France in 2022. She works in rehabilitation with patients with multiple sclerosis and is broadly interested in motor learning, particularly in relation to neuromodulation and cortical excitability.

Dhruvi Mehta
PhD
Dhruvi holds a Master’s degree in Psychological Science from the University of Glasgow . Her research focuses on multisensory integration and EEG biomarkers of temporal feedback delays during sensorimotor tasks, using KinArm robotic systems and electroencephalogram.Beyond research, Dhruvi is interested in applying neuroscience principles to neuropsychology, pertaining to the domain of neurodegenerative disorders.

Mathil Ruel
PhD
Mathil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Physical Activity Sciences. During her master’s, she conducted a clinical research project on the effect of peripheral neurostimulation (TENS) on movement-induced pain in women with fibromyalgia. Driven by a desire to deepen her knowledge and mechanistic understanding of pain, her doctoral research focuses on the effects of muscle hypoperfusion on brain activity and pain perception.
